Varsity Shutout Desmet to Close Week 2
Cadets Battle Through Week 2 – Split Results, Move to 2-1 on the Season
11/07/25
Week 2 of the regular season brought two intense MCC rivalry matchups for the Cadets.
CBC opened the week Monday night vs SLUH and fell 3-1 after the Jr. Bills added an empty netter late. SLUH struck first in the opening period. Early in the second, Colin Powers netted his second goal of the year on a feed from Mitch Nappier to even the game 1-1. SLUH responded shortly after to regain the lead, and sealed the win with an empty net goal with :11 left. The Cadets ultimately came up just short in a tight, competitive contest.
CBC bounced back Friday night against defending state champion DeSmet. Chase Blanchard delivered the game’s only goal — a first period power-play laser assisted by Ethan Mears — which held as the eventual game-winner. In the final minute with CBC shorthanded, DeSmet pulled their goalie for the 6-on-4 advantage, but defenseman Harry Larrigan came up with a massive block, laying his body on the line in the dying seconds to preserve the lead. Goaltender Colby Arnold was flawless, stopping all 26 shots he faced to earn the shutout.
A gritty team effort closed out the week, securing a 1-0 win and pushing the Cadets to 2-1 to start the 2025-2026 campaign.
