Meet the Coaches - Varsity

Varsity Head Coach - Ryan Trenz
Born and raised in St. Louis, Ryan grew up playing hockey for Affton and the St. Louis Jr. Blues. A 2010 graduate of CBC, he was a key part of the school’s 2008 and 2009 state championship teams, as well as the Jr. Blues’ 2010 national championship squad. Following graduation, he played two years of junior hockey before moving on to Northern Michigan University where he played four years of NCAA Division I hockey and studied finance. He then went on to play professionally in both the U.S. and Europe.
After retiring from playing, he returned to his roots, joining the CBC coaching staff as an assistant for the 2023–24 season before taking over as head coach in 2024–25. He now lives in St. Louis with his wife Maddie and their two dogs, working as a financial consultant when he’s not at the rink or out on the golf course.

Varsity Assistant Coach - Blake Ryan
Blake is born and raised in St. Louis, Missouri. Blake grew up playing youth hockey for Affton and attended CBC Highschool winning two state championships. After high school, he attended Missouri State University. As a four-year player, he captained the first team from MSU to make it to the national tournament. When not at the ice rink, he can be found spending time with his family and beating the other coaches on the golf course.

Varsity Assistant Coach - Eric Aldag
Eric is a 2010 graduate of Christian Brothers College High School, where he was a member of the varsity hockey team for four years. During his time at CBC, the team won three state championships, and he’s proud to now be back with the program in a coaching role.
Eric played his youth hockey with the Affton Americans before joining the St. Louis Jr Blues. Eric then went on to play in the North American Hockey League for the Motor City Metal Jackets before ending his playing days with the Missouri State University Hockey Team.
Eric has experience coaching at both youth and high school levels, including serving as head coach of the St. Louis Eagles. He joined CBC’s varsity staff as an assistant coach in 2023 and is committed to supporting the growth and development of student-athletes both on and off the ice.

Varsity Assistant Coach - Tyler Polizzi
Tyler Polizzi is a proud graduate of CBC’s Class of 2009, where he was a four-year varsity letterman, assistant captain his senior year, and a three-time state champion. His passion for hockey began early, playing youth hockey with Affton and the St. Louis Jr. Blues.
Tyler continued his playing career at Missouri State University, where he also started his coaching journey. He went on to serve as an assistant coach for three years with the St. Louis Eagles organization, helping lead the team to multiple league championships and a USA Hockey Nationals appearance.
In 2023, Tyler returned to CBC. Off the ice, he enjoys spending time with his wife Maria and their two children, Leo and Lilliana.
